Antique Polish Religious Painting: Madonna and Child

Vintage tapestry of Polish origin representing the Madonna and Child.   The painting uses a mixture of materials   The background appears to be linen.   In the center is a polychrome bas-relief of the Madonna and Child surmounting a banner on which is written ‘Ora Pronobis’   Our Lady is surrounded on either side by an angel, also in bas relief   At the top and bottom of the table, we can read an embroidered text in ancient Polish   « O Maryo, bądz nam w chwili zgonu Matką ».   which means   "O Mary, be our mother at the time of our death"   The work is presented in a glazed wooden frame with a second gilded and carved interior frame   This fascinating religious icon will make a lovely gift for any Catholic and / or curiosity cabinet lover.   (Frame) H 59 x W 49 cm (Table) H H 48.5 W 39 cm
